The Dr. Andrew J. and Betty H. Johnson Editor Prize

Through the generosity and support of Dr. Andrew J. and Betty H. Johnson, the Texas Gulf Historical Society will recognize a deserving LU graduate or undergraduate history major for the best research essay on Southeast Texas or the Texas Gulf Coast completed within the 2021-2022 academic year. The recipient will receive a $500 scholarship and consideration for publication in The Texas Gulf Historical and Biographical Record. Submit a completed essay as a Microsoft Word attachment by September 1, 2022, to the email below. The editor will assess each entry based on originality of research, thematic and historiographic significance as well as clarity and style. The editor may not select a winner if no article meets these criteria within the awarding year.
